Today we’re looking at what we should be praying for. So I’ll take you this verse + 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Prayer is not only about asking for gifts and help in times of trial. Christians, let me tell you, we spend way too much time asking for things instead of giving thanks for what his already done for us. Sometimes just say thanks without asking. How about you glorify him and express the love you have for him? When are you praying about that?
I am not saying that you shouldn’t pray for your problems neither I’m saying there’s one way of praying but what I am saying is that, dedicate more prayers of thanksgiving. Let’s look at another verse Colossians 4:2 ‘ Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.’ We need to surrender ourselves with care and be thankful for what he already does for us on a daily basis.
One would ask what kind of children are we when we ask without saying thanks? When we persistently abuse the relationship over what we want instead of a reciprocal relationship. I am encouraging us to give thanks more than we ask for, he already knows what we need.
Let’s pray together “ God Abba Father, please flourish my heart with genuine love that will benefit other people and me. Also, let the demonstrations of my love result in the glorification of your name. Let my love be selfless, impartial, truthful, and fruitful! For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.”
