Happy Tuesday Church! Today, I’d like to talk about my favourite topic ‘The Cost of Discipleship. What does it mean and what it requires from us as Children of God.
What does discipleship mean anyway, of course in a biblical sense? A disciple is someone who bases his or her life on the teachings of Christ. You accept Jesu’s teachings, live by them and transfer the teachings to others. That is what discipleship is all about. So what is the cost of discipleship? What do we need to give in order to live in Jesu’s way? Let me take you to Mark 8:14 when Jesus teaches about it to his apostles “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” Yes, that is what we need to do. We need to deny ourselves and what we want instead want things of the above.
To be an excellent learner, you need to ready your mind, and your spirit to receive the teachings and vow to live by them. To activate the spiritual powers that we find in God’s grace, we need to fully accept Jesus and most importantly live each day by what the word tells you to do. Does it make sense now? I am glad ;).
What do you get for discipleship or what do you get when you truly devote yourself to Christ?
1. Everday connection with God
2. Spiritual discernment which helps you fight over sin, remember that we ourselves cannot fight sin unless God intervenes.
3. We long to share our faith with others and tell unbelievers about the changes Jesus has made in our lives
This is exactly what I have seen in my life and what God has been doing to me. Since I devoted myself to God, I could see things that are right or wrong of which is discernment, God constantly visits me in my sleep or sometimes I’d just linger on a thought for a long-time when God is taking me through what he wants me to do and lastly, even since I devoted myself, I now want to share and tell the world what God has done for me. You too can have all of this and I really pray that you “go all-in” to Christ this year. Have not stops, no limits and submit that all you are to God.
Thank you, Church. Have a blessed day ahead.
